In short

For a yoga holiday in Fort Kochi, stay at least a week and practise every day. Take the 7:30 am class, see the town before the heat, rest at midday, and walk to the fishing nets at sunset. At Santhi Yoga a drop-in class is ₹500 (a limited-time offer; normally ₹600, and ₹700 from November 2026), and practising with us for more than a week gets 30% off. November to February has the best weather.

Most visitors take one class in Fort Kochi and move on. The ones who stay for a week tell a different story. By the fourth or fifth morning, something shifts: the order of the class is familiar, the corrections start to land, and the teacher knows which knee to watch.

This guide is for planning that kind of stay. For class times, prices and what a single class involves, start with our guide to yoga in Fort Kochi.

Why a week changes things

  • Days 1–2: learning the shape. You learn the order of the class — opening relaxation, breathing, sun salutations, postures, deep relaxation — and stop wondering what comes next.
  • Days 3–5: corrections build. The same teacher sees the same body every day, so yesterday’s correction becomes today’s starting point.
  • Days 6–7 and beyond: you can practise alone. You leave with a sequence you know well enough to keep going at home.

That is the reason a week of consecutive classes teaches more than a month of occasional ones, and the reason we offer 30% off to students who practise with us for more than a week.

A day on a yoga holiday

A typical day in Fort Kochi
TimeWhat to do
7:30–9:30 amMorning class. Message us the evening before to confirm the venue.
9:30–10:30 amA light breakfast — appam, idli or fruit.
10:30 am–12:30 pmSightseeing before the heat: churches, Mattancherry, the heritage streets.
12:30–3:30 pmA long lunch and a rest. This is how Kerala handles the midday heat.
Late afternoonA slow walk, a café, or the afternoon class instead of the morning one.
SunsetThe Chinese fishing nets or the beach.
EveningKathakali, or an early dinner and an early night.

One two-hour class a day is plenty for most people, especially at first. You are welcome at both, but a rested body learns more than a tired one.

What it costs

  • Classes: ₹500 each (a limited-time offer; normally ₹600, and ₹700 from November 2026). If you practise with us for more than a week, classes are 30% off — ask us how it works for your dates when you message.
  • A private session, if you want one mid-week: ₹1,500, rising to ₹2,000 in November 2026.
  • Getting around: Fort Kochi is walkable; the Water Metro to Ernakulam takes about 20 minutes, with fares from around ₹20.
  • Accommodation and food: these vary widely by season and taste, from simple homestays to heritage hotels.

Where to stay

Choose somewhere within walking distance of Chirattapalam, so a 7:30 am class does not mean an early taxi. Fort Kochi has everything from family homestays to restored heritage buildings. Daily classes do not include accommodation; if you want everything arranged for you, our 28-day teacher training includes accommodation and three meals a day.

Eating around classes

  • Before a morning class: nothing, or a little fruit.
  • Before the afternoon class: an early, light lunch — about three hours after a full meal.
  • Afterwards: Kerala’s vegetarian food suits a yoga week well, and the town has plenty of it.

When to come

November to February is dry, comfortable and the busiest time. March to May is hot, and the afternoon class often suits bodies better. June to September is the monsoon: humid, green and quiet. Our classes run every day, so pick the season that suits you. More on timing in morning or evening yoga.

If you would rather have the week arranged for you, our retreat project Samya Retreats runs seven-day retreats across Fort Kochi and Munnar on four 2027 dates: 13–19 March, 4–10 September, 10–16 October and 4–10 December.
